About the Planning Portal

Version 3 of Simfest's scheduling, dispatch and flight operations platform.

SIMFEST PLANNING PORTAL

Built for PSX operations

The Planning Portal brings schedules, SimBrief planning, aircraft, crew, BACARS and operational history together in one place. It is free to use for the flight simulation community.

Current release Version 3 Updated 31 July 2026

Plan the operation

Create individual flights or complete aircraft tours, assign aircraft and crew, then produce SimBrief briefing packs individually or as a queue.

Fly with BACARS

Connect PSX to dispatch data, route and wind uplinks, eFuelling, aircraft Tech Logs, loadsheets and live operational reporting.

Operate alone or together

Use a private workspace or share schedules, fleets, gates, crew and FICO information with a team.

Review every flight

Explore previous flights, aircraft activity maps, landing scores, crew statistics and the planning audit trail.

LATEST UPDATES ยท 31 JULY 2026

What we have added recently

The newest aircraft, BACARS and live-operation improvements delivered after the initial Version 3 refresh.

Personal and Team operations

  • Made Personal and Team permanent, independent workspaces with a single selector controlling schedules, fleets, crew and history.
  • Moved aircraft identity to Fleet ID so Personal, Team and Global aircraft can safely share a registration without sharing operational state.
  • Added seven-day Team and Global aircraft custody, holder visibility, expiry and authorized forced release.
  • Added workspace-aware flight history, landing scores and crew statistics while retaining compatible legacy BACARS records.

Aircraft location and state

  • Added aircraft ICAO and stand tracking, initial location setup and audited virtual positioning.
  • Made the Simfest Navdata API the primary airport and stand source, with a persistent cache and SQL emergency fallback.
  • Added searchable gate maps, heading-aware stand markers and clear map legends throughout aircraft and flight workflows.
  • Made completed modern BACARS flights advance the assigned aircraft location and use the scheduled arrival stand when available.
  • Corrected generated PSX situations so live and reset positions both use the selected stand coordinates.

BACARS cloud aircraft workflow

  • Added aircraft checkout and cloud synchronization directly from BACARS, including model-led PSX situation loading.
  • Added live PSX state capture with bang, situation reconstruction and atomic cloud check-in after BACARS restarts.
  • Added automatic INIT flight selection, workspace display, registration validation and recoverable telemetry diagnostics.
  • Refined connection health, independent uplink states and the compact BACARS operations dashboard.

Global aircraft library

  • Rebuilt the Global Aircraft page as a compact, filterable airline library with an always-visible location map and popular-aircraft section.
  • Added seven-day Global borrowing into Personal or Team workspaces, plus holder-authorized flown and unflown return workflows.
  • Added direct Fleet-ID history and read-only Tech Log access while keeping same-registration assets independent.
  • Added administrator-reviewed JetPhotos aircraft images with locally stored renditions, attribution and representative-image fallbacks.

Aircraft import and SimBrief profiles

  • Added cold-and-dark base-situation generation for imported Global aircraft, including deterministic airport and stand placement.
  • Classified PSX models into B744, B744 Lite, B744F and B744ER standard SimBrief profiles using variant and stabilizer-tank data.
  • Added optional registration-to-SimBrief-airframe mappings for aircraft that require a saved custom profile.
  • Preserved existing operational situations and explicitly configured saved airframes during repeat imports.

Live operations and portal interface

  • Expanded Live Flight with exact planned routes, flown tracks, global traffic, weather radar and richer aircraft telemetry.
  • Added telemetry-derived operational phases across Schedule, Planning and Briefings with a clear completed-flight treatment.
  • Added consistent portal confirmation dialogs, accessible detail tooltips and compact role-based crew presentation.
  • Improved Schedule flight editing with a full-width arrival-gate map and system-managed operational status.

Administration and diagnostics

  • Added an administrator-wide Flown Flights library with filtering, summaries, paging, full details and CSV export.
  • Added an Excluded Records diagnostic showing every malformed OOOI row, all rejection reasons and exact-duplicate counts.
  • Expanded Global Administration with compact fleet browsing, airline and logo management, aircraft photography and safer deletion tools.
  • Kept malformed optional telemetry visible as unavailable while excluding only records without a valid flight identity, route or date.
